British Whites' with Whalley Abbey in the background. This painting is a remarkable documentation of the British White breed and their earliest history. Oil on canvas 32 x 28 inches. Indistinctly signed and dated Daniel Clowes 1828.

Clowes (1774 - 1829) was a Chester artist. He specialised in horse & cattle portraits and recorded many famous animals during this period including the 'Nannau Ox'.
