Samuel Spode was an equestrian artist who specialised in the portraiture of sporting horses.

Producing naïve art, Samuel had 2 of his paintings reproduced in 1825 which were published in The Sporting Magazine. Samuel Spode’s most impressive animal painting is said to be “Coursing at Stonehenge” which was displayed in the British Sporting Art Trust Collection at the Tate Gallery in 1845.
